In December 2022, Aviant made history by launching Kyte, the first autonomous drone home delivery service in the Nordics. While others were still theorizing about drone logistics, we were delivering groceries, meals, and medicine directly to customers' doorsteps in Trondheim. This was not just another pilot project; Kyte was a full-scale commercial service, proving that autonomous drone deliveries could replace traditional last-mile transport in urban and rural areas alike.
π Project name: Kyte home delivery
π Location: Trondheim, Norway
π©οΈ Technology partner: Aviant
π€ Food delivery partner: Bigbite, Egon, Susihibar, Benja Siam Syd, Bella Italia
π Project period: December 2022 - 2023
β
Before Kyte, drone home delivery was just a concept in the Nordics. We made it a reality. Our mission was clear:
β
Faster deliveries β No more traffic congestion. Kyteβs autonomous drones flew direct routes, cutting delivery times dramatically.
β
Sustainable transport β With zero emissions, our electric drones offered a clean alternative to cars and motorbikes.
β
Seamless customer experience β Trondheim residents could order food and essentials via the Kyte app and receive their delivery in minutes, without needing to leave their home.
This wasnβt an experiment, it was an operative service, scalable and commercially viable.
β
Unlike traditional delivery services, Kyte was built around full autonomy, precision, and user simplicity:
1οΈβ£ Sign up β Customers registered via the Kyte app and entered their location.
2οΈβ£ Place order β Users selected food or essentials from our partner restaurants and stores.
3οΈβ£ Drone dispatched β The autonomous drone took off from the Kyte hub and navigated the optimal route.
4οΈβ£ Safe delivery β The package was winched down to the designated drop-off point, ensuring a secure, contactless experience.
With thousands of successful deliveries, Kyte set the stage for the future of autonomous last-mile logistics
